Have we missed a trend here or is there a reason why popstars have started to bandage up their limbs lately? It would be an insult to compare him to Chris Brown but similar to the controversial singer, Zayn Malik was seen yesterday nursing a mystery injury to his right hand. The One Direction singer’s knuckles were so swollen if you painted his hand red you would be forgiven for mistaking it for a boxing glove. And as if that wasn’t enough, he was also left with cuts and two of his fingers were taped together. Ouch. Zayn - who appeared on Daybreak this morning for One Direction day - had spent the day rehearsing in a London studio with Louis Tomlinson for the band’s new arena tour. But while working might be taking his mind off things, it’s fair to say that Zayn isn’t having a great time of it at the moment after he was alleged to have cheated on pretty girlfriend Perrie Edwards.
He gave an interview to Daybreak, where he told Richard Arnold about realising that there were bigger issues in the world.
One Direction were just on Daybreak for ONE DIRECTION DAY and while they didn’t venture near such subjects as love lives, cheating allegations or Perrie from Little Mix, we did get a tiny insight into how they might view such dramas as the ones Zayn has been going through this week. After their recent trip to Ghana for Comic Relief, Zayn admitted that the things he used to worry about now don’t bother him any more - as he's gained a different viewpoint from being out there. “It put things in perspective for me,” he told TV’s Richard Arnold. “In everyday life you have problems that we think are so major and then you go over there and you see people with real problems and having to carry on every day and keep going. So just a general sense of just putting things into perspective for me.” Now let’s be clear – 3am have been told that this interview was filmed before the whole cheating allegations drama but maybe these ‘perspective’ type thoughts will help Zayn when Perrie’s potentially yelling at him down the phone. And the other boys agreed with Zayn too. “We all kind of went out there not knowing what to expect,” said Harry. “Then we came back looking at each other going... best thing ever done.” Louis added: “I was surprised at the spirit of everyone, they're so smiley, you walk down the street and everyone waves. If you did that in London…”
When the boys came face to face with children just a few years younger than them struggling in poverty, it brought them down to earth with a bump.
The boys visited the poverty-hit city of Accra with Comic Relief to film a video for their single, a fusion of Blondie’s One Way or Another and The Undertones’ Teenage Kicks, which is out today in aid of the charity. Harry, 19 tomorrow, admitted: “We all had moments. If you get involved in it and you don’t cry you’re superhuman. "We’ve seen appeal films before so we thought we knew what it’s like. "But when you’re there and you get the smells, your eyes hurt from the smoke, you cough, you’re feeling it all. “The crazy thing is, when I went to school not one person wanted to be there. Yet you go into a school in Ghana and every child loves it. "It’s amazing to see. There are 10-year-old kids speaking better French than I can. “It’s crazy how quick you get connections with children and people who live there. You feel upset leaving them and saying goodbye to them.” Life expectancy for women in Ghana is 63 compared with 82 here. And 28% of the 25 million population live in poverty. Niall, 19, was deeply affected. “It was the shock of people struggling to get water and watching people work 12 hours a day for little money.”
The five stars will appear in a film during Red Nose Day next month that documents their time in Ghana. The appeal has raised more than £600million to help educate poor children. One Direction will not receive any royalties for the single. They even shot the video on their own to save cash. Niall said: “We didn’t want to make a massive expensive video because that’s just a big waste of money. So we kinda made it ourselves.” Liam, 19, said he will never forget the poverty he witnessed and hopes people will get behind their efforts. “We just want people to buy the single and help raise as much money as possible,” he said. Louis, 21, added: “By buying the song, together we’ll change people’s lives. What an amazing thing to do. Buy music that you like and change lives.” There were lighter moments for the group during the visit as the children greeted them with calls of... “Westlife!” Liam recalled: “In the slum there were these lads that we were playing football with. "They turned around to us and were like: ‘Ah, Westlife, Westlife!’ "So, Westlife are bigger than us over there. That’s something we’ve gotta achieve...”
Pop idols One Direction have revealed their mothers have been getting the
needle over their dedication to tattoos.
The group, who were brought together on the 2010 series of the X Factor, have
dozens of tattoos between them with Harry Styles being the biggest fan of body
art.
Liam Payne told ITV's Daybreak his mother "went crazy about the
whole tattoo idea", but bandmate Zayn Malik laughed off stories that X Factor
supremo Simon Cowell was upset about it. He said: "Simon hasn't said anything but our mums have been like, 'maybe
you're getting a bit too much'." Styles said the group's recent visit to Ghana for Comic Relief had been
"amazing". He said: "We all kind of went out there not really knowing what to expect and
then we all came back ... just kind of going, 'that was the best thing we've
ever done'." Malik, whose relationship with Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has seen him
hit the headlines recently, said of the trip: "It kind of put things into
perspective for me ... you go over there and you actually see people that are
actually dealing with real problems and, you know, just having to carry on every
day and keep going, so, yeah, just a general sense of putting things into

Proving he wasn't bothered by the attention, Louis ignored all of the celebs and spent his evening with Eleanor.

Despite 1D winning the award for Best International Artist, Harry was probably rather embarrassed by the very public dissing as the whole world looked on and his bandmates had a little internal snigger. Still he looks as though he’s recovered fully from the ordeal and seemed to have a bit of a spring in his step as he landed at Heathrow airport after a quick stop in Glasgow.
We’re sure his fans helped lift his spirits though and he happily posed for pictures with them so they could splatter them all over Twitter afterwards.
There’s nothing like a bit of adoration to boost the ego and Harry’s certainly not short of female attention, especially ones who like to visit his home. In fact something tells us, he really couldn’t care less about Taylor’s little performance and is probably rather chuffed about the whole thing.

Courtney Webb has been sent death threats and hate messages for allegedly taking photos of the sleeping star after the alleged one night stand.
Which is unfortunate for Zayn, not just because the accusations are incredibly damaging but it’s a situation he’s already familiar with.
A fan, posting under the name Izzy Box, wrote: 'courtney webb... we will find you and kill you. sincerely directioners.'
One fan, Hannah, refused to believe the reports and wrote on Twitter: ‘This hate on Zayn needs to stop. Do you really think Zayn would cheat? No. He has respect for women and he loves Perrie. End of.’

As one of the night's performers, we all hoped that Taylor would do an emotional version of I Knew You Were Trouble as she gazed into Harry's eyes. She did tweet lyric 'Til you put me down' after their dramatic split in the Caribbean after all.
