Billboard Music Awards 2013: One Direction battle with Taylor Swift as boyband up for EIGHT prizes

The boyband are up for eight prizes - including Top Artist - and will face competition from Taylor, Rihanna and Justin Bieber

Do they get a little trophy each or take it in turns?

Award ceremonies become confusing when Taylor Swift gets a nod in the country music category. No, us neither.
But putting the genre politics aside, the nominations for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards are IN – and it’s a clean swoop for Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction, obviously.
The world’s biggest boyband are up for a staggering eight prizes while Harry Styles’ nemesis and ex-girlfriend Taylor is nommed for 11 categories.
Other artists given a congratulatory nod are Maroon 5, fun. and Justin Bieber.
Tracy Morgan will host the ceremony on May 19 live from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.
